Helpful HintsThis page lists several tips for using the historical documents available on Centerplace.org. Document Navigation Some documents include a "Back" icon at the top. Clicking on this button will return you to the previously viewed document, if your browser supports Javascript. If the browser doesn't support Javascript or if the page does not contain a "Back" icon, just click the "Back" button of the web browser. Most chapters and issues of historical documents contain a "Previous", "Next", and "Table of Contents" icons at the top and bottom of each document. This is provided to facilitate easier navigation between books, and should be supported by all browsers. Organization of Documents Each chapter of the RLDS Church History is stored in a separate file. The file names include the volume number and chapter in the format "vxchyy.htm", where x is the volume number and yy is the chapter (with leading zero where necessary). For example, volume 1 chapter 3 is www.centerplace.org/history/ch/v1ch03.htm. For the Times and Seasons, Messenger & Advocate, and Evening & Morning Star,
each issue of the magazine is stored in a separate file. The file names include the
volume and the issue number in the format "vxnyy.htm", where
x is the volume number and yy is the chapter (with leading zero
where necessary). For example, Times and Seasons volume 2 chapter 3 is
www.centerplace.org/history/ts/v2n03.htm . Links to individual pages Each page in the above volumes is referenced by a bookmark, so that links can be established from other Web pages to the history sources. This might be useful for people who are publishing articles on the Internet, and wish to reference their sources using dynamic links. For instance, Volume 1 page 260 of Church History can be linked using the address: www.centerplace.org/history/ch/v1ch11.htm#260 Documents under the Other History Resources category do not include bookmarks to individual pages. Determining page numbers In order to determine which chapter contains a specific page number, refer to the volume's Table of Contents. For instance, for Times and Seasons Volume 2 see the page www.centerplace.org/history/ts/vol2.htm |
